Instead of staring at a screen to unwind this Wednesday night, why not go see a guitar legend? Since the 1970s, John Stowell has been circling the globe, wowing audiences near and far with his jazz guitar stylings. Downbeat says, “he plays his amplified guitar as though he were surrounded by fine crystal.” The famed jazz critic Nat Hentoff adds, “(John) can make an electric guitar sound like a singing voice.” Also in the mix is Stowell’s longtime collaborator saxophonist Michael Zilber. The duo has released three celebrated albums on Origin Records, which find them defying clichés to create jazz at its best.
