In the span of a song, Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler transports listeners across time and space. With a true gift for narrative lyricism and a voice that naturally commands an audience, Drexler is a skilled songwriter in any language. Along with his five piece backing band, he dropped a captivating Tiny Desk concert in 2018, complete with indie rock melodies and bird whistles, but many know him for his 2004 piece “Al Otro Lado Del Rio,” which won an Academy Award (a first for a Uruguayan artist) for its role on the Motorcycle Diaries soundtrack.
