Jr. Rankin is a musician who makes breezy, soul-affirming reggae music. Though information on him on the web is rather scarce, he makes up for it with his dedicated live performances as seen at various South Bay music venues like Art Boutiki, and this weekend at Willow Den. His music is cool but calculated, technical but carefree, paying homage to the classic reggae of old while still being imbued with a fresh, innovative feel. Either way, Jr. Rankin’s sound is sure to transport the listener into an island kind of mood when he performs with Drunken Starfighter at the Willow Den Public House this Friday.
