King Liz is a drama by playwright Fernanda Coppel, who told her alma mater, UC Santa Cruz, “My whole MO is to write more parts for Latina women.” In King Liz, an ambitious sports agent named Liz Rico manages an elite client roster. Just as she’s about to take over the agency, she brings on a new client: high school basketball superstar Freddie Luna (played by San Jose-based actor and rapper Davied Morales, aka Activepoet). Thursday is “pay what you can” night; anyone can call the box office to name their price. Friday offers a discounted preview before Saturday’s official opening. (EY)
