The sessions began at the end of last year, and the album is expected to be released sometime this fall. Bello doesn’t know how many of the tracks the Bangerz worked on will make the final cut, but even he’s surprised at how good the pairing of the two groups is sounding.
“It was kind of a natural connection. I didn’t realize how much our sound would work with them,” he admits. “But they’ve always been on the super-spacey electronic tip.”
Meanwhile, Bello has a wholly different challenge coming up when he opens the Latryx show at Pagoda with his first solo performance. He’s been working on a solo EP, and will play songs from that, as well as some Bangerz material.
“I’m pretty nervous about it. I’m usually performing with my crew, and now I won’t have that safety net,” he says.
Bello promises he’s got some surprises up his sleeve for the performance; he only asks that Bangerz and Latryx fans be gentle.
“I’m baring my soul here!” he says with a laugh.
Latryx with opener Paolo ‘Cutso’ Bello perform Saturday, April 28 at Pagoda Lounge in San Jose; 9pm; $23.50.
