When Tibetan filmmaker Khyentse Norbu set out to make his 2019 film Looking for a Lady With Fangs and a Moustache, he wanted to explore Tibetan mysticism. He’d already written several nonfiction books about Tibetan Buddhism. For this movie, Norbu explores the journey to enlightenment with a dreamy story that is beautifully shot and often feels delightfully peculiar. Sometimes, it takes a good story to understand big spiritual ideas. Norbu will also speak at this upcoming screening, which will undoubtedly shed more light on his vision and give people much to ponder.
