Madame Sherry is a musical farce that tells the story of upwardly mobile bachelor, Edward Sherry, who has cultivated a reputation for the finer things in life–a reputation that requires constant cash injections from his rich uncle. When Sherry’s uncle makes a surprise visit to town, Sherry must conjure up a wife and two adult children to convince his uncle of his good standing. A classic musical comedy in the vein of Much Ado About Nothing, Madame Sherry became an instant hit when it opened on Broadway in 1910. Since then, the production has spawned numerous hit songs like “Every Little Movement (Has a Meaning All Its Own)” and become a staple of stage companies around the country.
