San Jose guitarist and composer Mason Razavi’s roots are in classical music, but he later immersed himself in jazz, electric and rock guitar. His album People, Places, and Monsters featured original compositions set to animation. Razavi released four more records, namely 2023’s Six-String Standards, which consists of interpretations of Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, Henry Mancini and Dexter Gordon. In addition to his solo and quartet work, his other project includes an organ trio with drummer Jason Lewis and organist Brian Ho. For the release of his forthcoming Even Keel, Razavi is joined by saxophonist Charles McNeal, who’s played alongside McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Roberta Flack, Lyle Lovett and Boz Scaggs.
