Grammy-nominated Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana takes the stage at Hammer Theatre’s Hammer4 Studio with a riveting performance of her Blue Note debut 12 Stars. The artist has seen a meteoric rise in the New York jazz scene, where she has studied under George Coleman since 2009. Aldana was the first female musician (and South American one, at that) to win the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Influenced by the likes of Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley and her saxophonist father Marcos Aldana, the innovative articulator makes the instrument all her own.
