GENRE BANDITS: The Prima Trio likes to mix and mash up its classical programs.
Prima Trio
By Michael S. Gant
TO KICK OFF its 2009 series, Sunset Concerts at St. Luke's welcomes the Prima Trio: David Bogorad on violin, Anastasia Dedik on piano and Boris Allakhverdyan on clarinet. The young musicians have already won a major chamber music competition (the Fischoff), but that hasn't dampened their sly sense of humor, which can be heard on their roller-coaster version of Peter Schickele's (a.k.a. P.D.Q. Bach) all-genre-mashup Serenade for Three. The program will also include trios by Mozart and Khachaturian, plus some selections from Bruch's Eight Pieces.
THE PRIMA TRIO performs Saturday (Feb. 7) at 8pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave., Los Gatos. Tickets are $10–$25. (408.354.4560)
