Newspapers are accustomed to receiving hate mail and calls from angry readers. But now it's easier for haters to get organized. Take, for example, the beleaguered Spartan Daily, San Jose State University's student-run paper. A new Facebook group called Student Body Against the Spartan Daily has gathered 276 members, following an article regarding the apparent suicide of student Gregory Johnson, which, according to the Daily, might in fact have been a murder. The Facebook group appears to be made up mostly of fraternity and sorority members who felt the article made them look bad. Yasmin Hosseinzadeh wrote on the Facebook page: "It is a true shame that this is being used as an opportunity to brand the Greek system as a threat to students." Jenny Brock described the article as "not just poorly written but slanderous towards segments of the student body." Erin Roth wrote, "If I wanted to read gossip and trash I would pick up a tabloid." Joe Chunnic, managing editor of De Anza College's student newspaper, decided to take advantage of the situation and troll for readers: "I suggest that in light of these recent events that you turn to our paper to get your news. Stop by the lovely campus and pick up a copy."

Woz's Moves

While Steve Jobs' heath declines, his former partner is still light on his feet. ABC TV has announced that it has signed Apple inventor Steve Wozniak to be a contestant on the new season of Dancing With the Stars. The 58-year-old can often be seen tooling around Los Gatos on his Segway, but dancing? Fly will watch—just to see if he finds a way to integrate his personal people-mover into a routine.
