HIGH FLYING: The Daedalus Quartet visits San Jose Sunday.

THE YOUNG members of the Daedalus Quartet of Pennsylvania pay a visit to the ongoing San Jose Chamber Music Society concert series. Joining the group will be guest clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, who recently completed a residency for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The program includes Haydn Quartet in A Major, Elliott Carter's Quartet no. 5 and Brahms' Clarinet Quintet in B Minor. Sunday (April 19) at 7pm; Le Petit Trianon, 72 N. First St., San Jose; $28–$40; 408.286.5111.The lively sounds of the French Baroque are showcased by the San Francisco Early Music Society at its Palo Alto concert. The featured instrument is the unusual pardessus de viole—a cross between a viola da gamba and a violin, which caught on at Versailles in 18th-century France.
