Announcing this week is the Montalvo Arts Summer Concert Series at the Garden Theatre, presented by Live Nation. The summer music gets under way June 3 with Julio Iglesias, followed by the Wallflowers (June 17). The performers for July are Dave Koz and Brian Culbertson (July 10), Kenny G (July 16), the Cowboy Junkies and Son Volt (July 17), Ozomatli (July 18), Jewel (July 21) and Boney James and Fourplay (July 24). The August highlights are blues great Buddy Guy (Aug. 15) and folk icon Joan Baez (Aug. 19). Peter Frampton performs Sept. 13. The shows hover in the $40–$80 range. Tickets go on sale May 11 at 10am through Ticketmaster. The schedule is also available on www.metroactive.com.

Not to be outdone, the city of San Jose picked Monday to drop the word about the Target Summer Pops music festival, which will take place Aug. 22–30 at Fourth and San Carlos streets on the SJSU campus. The series begins with some John Williams film scores performed by Symphony Silicon Valley; other acts include Cleo Laine (Aug. 25), a Classical Mystery Tour with the symphony and a brass band concert with Tony Clements.
