Shaun White

Must've Been High: Shaun White reaches high and indy-gabs a frontide flip on the Sacramento stop of the Zumiez Couch Tour.

Board on the Fourth of July

SO MANY THINGS go off on Fourth of July: fireworks, parties, even Tom Cruise. And now this coming Fourth of July, you can add loud music and pro skateboarders to the mix.

Zumiez will be launching their sixth annual 12-city Couch Tour in San Jose on July 4, with the Flip skate team, and CKY and Revolution Mother, Mike Vallely's newest musical creation, to play the soundtrack. The Flip team is comprised of some of the most varied skateboard styles on the circuit, including veteran talents like Lance Mountain, a longtime member of the original Bones Brigade who skated the Chin Ramp back in 1987. There's also Brazilian Bob Burnquist, who has been setting the stage on the vertical scene since 1995 when he showed up unknown at the Slam City Jam in Vancouver, B.C., and took the first place trophy from the top pros. Since then he has gone on to win almost every contest imaginable and has become a solid role model. Also on the team is Geoff Rowley, originally from Liverpool, who has been tearing up the streets since he was a teenager and at 25 won the 2001 Thrasher Skater of the Year Award. And the list goes on with names like Mark Appleyard, Rodrigo TX, Arto Saari, Eric Fletcher, Shane Cross, and David Gonzalez.

The event will be held at San Jose's Eastridge Mall on Sunday, June 4, entrance is free and there will be a slew of street course obstacles set up at the disposal of the Flip team wrecking crew and the audio barrage of CKY and Revolution Mother.
