Jonas Brothers

KID-TESTED and mother-approved Disney Channel darlings the Jonas Brothers may be a wholesome, morally upright pop-rock trio, but they sure do wear tight pants. Ready packaged to make your 13-year-old daughter buy Day-Glo posterboard and adorn it with her favorite glittery Tiger Beat stickers and cutouts, these extraordinarily well-groomed teen pop sensations are the heirs to the boy band set that's too young to remember Hanson. Last year, acting-singing brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas cashed in with saccharine hits like "S.O.S" and "Hold On" off their self-titled second album Jonas Brothers, and are now set to saturate the teenybopper market with a North American tour and new album out this August. Look for a Hannah Montana-esque 3-D theatrical movie starring the purity ring-wearing brothers Jonas to be released later this year. David Cassidy, eat your heart out.

La Kalle Explosion III

PUERTO RICAN hip-hop/reggaeton duo Calle 13 headlines 100.7's La Kalle Explosion III, an event stacked with big-name Latino talent. Half-brothers René Pérez Joglar and Eduardo José Cabra Martínez teamed up to form the group near the turn of the millennium, and by 2005, Calle 13 had risen to fame on the strength of the politically driven single, "Querido FBI." At the 2006 Latin Grammy's, Joglar and Martínez took home three Grammys, including the award for Best New Artist. Needless to say, in the two years that followed, Calle 13 established themselves as one of the most expressive and provocative reggaeton acts on the planet. Also performing at LA Kalle Explosion III is Eddy Lover, Makano Belanova, Toby Love, Baby Boy Tito and El Bambino.

Sara Bareilles

EVER randomly hear about someone you went to school with, or who was a friend of your older brother, or who baby-sat you when you were little, and now this person is somewhat famous? That's what happened to me last year when I read a mention of Sara Bareilles. Recognizing the name, I searched for her MySpace and found she's a full-fledged recording artist with Epic. This is the girl who somehow charmed my kindergarden crush (and first grade and second grade ...). He chased her around the schoolyard while my friend Emily and I watched from afar. The thing is, I can't hate her for that. As a musician, she's actually pretty good. Her voice weaves fluidly around the musical eaves and turns and her lyrics are clever and charming, akin to the likes of Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette but with a softer touch. I highly doubt she remembers me, and I don't intend to find out, but I might just catch her upcoming show at the Fillmore out of curiosity.
