WHEN legendary punk god Glen Danzig left the Misfits in 1983, a chapter closed on one of the shining stories of American rock music. But take heart! Thanks to some nifty lawsuit work by the remaining members and their lawyer friends, the Misfits (well some of them anyway) reformed in 1995 and have been touring under the name—much to the annoyance of Mr. Danzig—ever since! Classically catchy, the doo-wop-meets-butcher-shop sound of the Misfits has inspired grubby-looking punks worldwide—not too mention plenty of great rock bands. JO DEE MESSINA has become a strong force on the country music scene since her debut in 1996, pumping out nine No. 1 songs on the country charts and always appearing with a smile on her face. After moving from Massachusetts to Nashville at age 19 with hopes of being discovered, Messina entered numerous talent contests and eventually earned notice from producer Byron Gallimore. Gallimore and Tim McGraw joined forces to produce her first album, which included the hit single "Heads Carolina, Tails California," and her sophomore effort, I'm Alright, produced five chart-toppers, including "Bye, Bye" and "Lesson in Leavin'." Her most recent album, Unmistakable, was originally intended to come out this past November, but was temporarily shelved. However, Messina has released two singles from the album and it is currently set to hit shelves in a few months. Lee Brice opens.

FOR A BAND that chose to name itself after a word synonymous with terms like "ultimate," "excessive," "rabid" and "maximum," Extreme became famous not for its hard rock and heavy metal hair-band leanings, but for the acoustic anthem "More Than Words," played at millions of weddings and high school dances since it topped the charts in 1991. A second ballad, "Hole Hearted," reached the Top 10 that same year, but the quartet split in the mid-'90s following poor record sales from its two subsequent releases. However, nostalgic fans can let down their hair and headbang (or gently sway ...) once again, because three of Extreme's four original members reunited in 2004 (adding newbie Kevin Figueiredo on drums), and the band is currently on a world tour celebrating its first album of new material in 13 years, Saudades de Rock.
