New Orleans Songbook, a jazz ensemble led by pianist Luther S Allison and with vocalists Quiana Lynell and Milton Suggs, celebrates the Crescent City’s musical traditions and heritage. New Orleans has a storied role in the birth and development of jazz—a uniquely American art form—marked by such luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, James Black and Ellis Marsalis Jr. Presented as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s touring initiative, this evening of music is part of that organization’s mission to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education and advocacy.
