Yacht rock. The bass tickling the bottoms of feet. The wah-wah pedal. The goes-down-like-a-piña-colada synths. The smooth drumming and falsetto vocals invoking the ’70s—when the vocals were tight, and the pants were tighter. Any child of the ’70s worth their salt sang these songs at top volume from the way back of the station wagon. Things may be different now, “… but it’s all right once you get past the pain … so keep your heart open ’cause love will find a way.” In other words, the band and the groove are still here. The pants may be looser, but the groove is still tight.
