The SoFA Street Fair isn’t the only notable event in downtown San Jose on this final weekend in April. On Friday and Saturday, fans of thrifting can get their fill of vintage goods while also helping to support the Preservation Action Council of San Jose, a group dedicated to preserving San Jose’s architectural and cultural heritage.
Among the highlights that shoppers will find: vintage oak furniture, sofa beds and leather club chairs, marble top Victorian tables and end tables, vintage tuxedos and hats, all variety of media (vinyl records, CDs, books, magazines), camping gear, artwork, jewelry and “weird and wonderful finds,” such as a collection of ceramic roosters and chickens.
Funds raised at the rummage sale will help preserve historic buildings in San Jose. Supporters may also purchase swag: PAC*SJ T-shirts, aprons and adorable enamel pins depicting local landmarks.
The sale will be held in a 2,000-square-foot warehouse space donated for the weekend by Google. Organized by Creekside Socials, the two-day event also features historical and nature walks, and art workshops.
Activities run from 9am to 5pm on Friday and include bird walks led by the Silicon Valley Audubon Society at 10am, noon and 2pm and walks around the Lake House Historic District at 11am and in the River Street Historic District at 1pm. And at 3pm, Rod Diridon will lead a walk around Diridon Station.
On Saturday, PAC*SJ will lead a sketchwalk starting at 10am. Free brush lettering workshops hosted by Brush.House will take place at noon and 1:30pm, and SCRAP SF will host jewelry remix workshops at 11am and 1pm.
PAC*SJ Rummage Sale takes place April 26-27 at 20 Barack Obama Blvd. (formerly Autumn Street), San Jose. Free.
