Trekking for Tiki
Where to hear and read about tiki
By Richard von Busack
In imaginary cyberspace, devotees of the tiki recreate their own imaginary paradises at various locales on the World Wide Web. Once you've (celestially) navigated such false leads as a picture of potential football great Tiki Barber and the site of some person, who, loving not too wisely but too well, has spammed the Web with pictures of Tiki, her dog, you can find:
Tiki News is a center for the distribution of info on the last of the Polynesian lounges. The Tiki News is available in print for $2 an issue by writing to 1349 Preston Way, Venice, CA 90291.
More tiki merchandise for dedicated collectors is available through http://www.west.net/~tikigods/.
Exotic music conferences include alt.exotic.music.
Local exotic-music DJ Jack Diamond maintains his own Web page. His weekly program, House of Games, can be heard every Sunday, 9-noon on KFJC (89.7FM).
Combustible Edison's home page has drink recipes and other ephemera.
Two good zines on tiki-related matters are Thrift Score ($1, Box 90282, Pittsburgh, PA, 15224) and Twisted Times ($3, Box 271222, Concord, CA 94527.
