Thieves struck the SoFA club after Saturday's closing

By Sarah Quelland

WHETHER DUE TO THE LULL in the winter rains, the three-day weekend or the promising bands lined up for the night, people turned out in large numbers Saturday (Jan. 13) to catch Major Liegue, Setacide, Willie's Conception and others at the Cactus Club, and Downside, Fuse, Divided (formerly Drift) and Krenshaw at the Usual. But the night turned sour some time after 3am, when the Cactus Club was reportedly robbed. The police have been notified in an attempt to catch the crooks who allegedly made off with lots of cash, quarters from the video game and pinball machines, power tools and other items. The Cactus Club's Calvin Trippett says they took "pretty much everything that wasn't nailed down." Luckily no one was hurt in the incident since everyone had left for the night and no severe damage was done to the club. There were no suspects by deadline. Business at the Cactus Club will continue as usual.
