Foods for Inner Warmth

By Stett Holbrook

WHEN IT'S COLD and wet outside, try a little Chinese wisdom to warm your soul. According to the dictums of Chinese medicine, the following five foods have various warming properties to get your chi flowing.

Cherries: Good for expelling cold, wind and dampness.

Cinnamon bark: Warms the surface and interior.

Green Onions: Like cherries, they expel cold and dry dampness.

Mustard Greens: Help expel cold and circulate chi and blood.

Pine Nuts: Expel cold and wind.
