5 Places With Alfresco Dining

THAT groundhog in Pennsylvania says six more weeks of winter, but the blooming daffodils, cherry blossoms and warm weather say otherwise in Silicon Valley. We're sure to get a few more storms, but we're on a downhill slide to spring. While the weather holds, here are five restaurants that offer outdoor dining to enjoy the warm days of late winter.

Andale: The backyard courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy a carne asada taco and beer. 21 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. 408.395.9887.

Blue Rock Shoot: The terraced seating overlooking Saratoga Creek at the back of the cafe and tables out front make for prime warm-weather dining. 14323 Big Basin Way, Saratoga. 408.741.5180.

Café Niebaum-Coppola: Beautiful outdoor seating as well as big windows that open in warm weather offer appealing dining inside or out. 473 University Ave., Palo Alto. 650.752.0350.

Gordon and Biersch Brewery: This brewpub's brick-walled courtyard makes the beer taste ever better. 33 E. San Fernando St., San Jose. 408.294.6785.

Paragon Restaurant: Paragon's spacious outdoor seating feels like an oversized porch and the bocce ball courts add to the pleasure of being outside. 211 S. First St., San Jose. 408.282.8888.
