Why do you think that, even after geek chic, software designers still get such a bad rap? I think people believe way too strongly in stereotypes. Why shouldn't software designers be considered just as sexy as people in more glamorous professions such as accountancy or fast-food preparation? This nerdy image of software designers is just a myth. I'd say no more than 70 or 80 percent of programmers speak Klingon, for example, and most of those aren't exactly fluent.
