Politico Profiles

[whitespace] Congressional Representatives

Zoe Lofgren--Nearly four years after being elected to Congress, Lofgren still lists her occupation as "mother in the Lofgren-Collins household." In a previous life serving on the San Jose City Council, she breast-fed her babies behind the dais. Women's causes aren't her only concern. In this diverse area, her office also assists with immigration and naturalization issues.

Tom Campbell--He's a moderate's moderate Republican. He went against the party leadership and voted to oust House Speaker Newt Gingrich following the ethics scandal. He even chatted with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro before the Pope did. He lost his bid for the U.S. Senate in 1992 and Democrats feared he would make another attempt this year, but he is promising to stay put for now.
