Scouting Report: America's infatuation with all things Swedish took on a lot of water after a 2001 tsunami of interest caused by the Hives, the Soundtrack of Our Lives, Citizen Bird, Division of Laura Lee, (International) Noise Conspiracy and others swept across the world. If Sahara Hotnights has anything to say about it, the sound emanating from the land of pool-blue eyes and cheap particleboard furniture won't go away quietly. Sahara Hotnights consists of four twentysomething women strapped with guitars and stompboxes with a severe Runaways jones. Vocalist Maria Anderssong, guitarist Jennie Asplund, bassist Johanna Asplund and drummer Josephine Forsman kick out the hard jams that could have concocted by an evil scientist in a Minneapolis garage. The monster breaks free, contracts Cat Scratch Fever, jumps into the Bratmobile and floors it toward a Go-Go's/Elastica double bill. (TI)
