5 Local CSAs LOCAL FARMS stay in business by selling to farmers markets and restaurants, but community supported agriculture, CSAs for short, are becoming increasingly important to the continued existence of these small farms. As a member of a CSA, you buy a "share" of the output of a farm, and in return you get a box of just-picked produce each week. You can't get fresher, better-tasting produce, and it helps keep local farms alive. Here are five CSAs that distribute their produce at locations throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Morris Grassfed Beef: While most CSA programs offer fresh produce, San Juan Bautista's Morris Grassfed Beef offers a "split half" of beef, about 80 to 100 pounds of top-quality, range-fed beef.
