Comments: A sibling of the mighty Stanford Jazz Camp and Residency, the Stanford Jazz Festival offers a diverse annual lineup. Any performance could be recommended for at least a solid--if not spectacular--evening of jazz. The one-two combo of saxophonist Lou Donaldson and Hammond B-3 guru Dr. Lonnie Smith promises a sonic throat punch of jazz-funk, while the trio of pianist and San Jose homeboy Art Hirahara, bassist Todd Sickafoose and drummer Scott Amendola is an all-star affair worth catching.
