The Quarter Note
By Sarah Quelland
Signature Drink: Bloody Mary, Kamikaze, Long Island iced tea
The Quarter Note was known as Mr. Lucky's before it was acquired by Robert and Vicki Reese in 1996. It's notoriously tricky to find the first couple times but generally worth it. Tucked away in a nondescript location in Sunnyvale with plenty of parking, the comfortable bar and grill is open daily from 10:30am to 2am and serves a menu of hot finger foods like taquitos, calamari, potstickers, hot spicy wings and beef ribs during lunch hours (11am-2pm) and dinner hours (6-10pm). With a small stage, there's live music here, in one form or another, seven nights a week. Every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, Doc hosts a blues and rock jam. Tuesdays offer a live band followed by karaoke with Jennifer. On Thursdays, Pacman Entertainment and Blowin' Up Underground Productions present Synergy, a hip-hop and freestyle rap and jam session. Pacman also presents live music on Fridays and live bands perform on Saturdays as well, often in association with Teeno Records.
The Quarter Note also hosts an annual afternoon benefit for Guide Dogs for the Blind with a car show, barbecue, live music and charity auction.
