By Stett Holbrook

FOR PRACTICING Muslims, finding restaurants that serve good food made with halal meat can be a challenge in Silicon Valley. Just as kosher food is blessed by a rabbi, halal meat is butchered in accordance with Islamic law. Halal restaurants are also a good indication of authentically prepared Middle Eastern food. Here are five places worth trying.

Bundu Khan's Halal Restaurant: Pakistani food. 1520 S. De Anza Blvd., San Jose. 408.865.0302.

Falafel Drive-in Great falafels as well as halal gyros. 2301 Stevens Creek Blvd., San Jose. 408.294.7886.

Fifela: Variety of Mediterranean fare. 3284 El Camino Real, Santa Clara. 408.260.0120.

Isfahan Kabob and Beryani: Persian food. 3014 Union Ave., San Jose, 408.559.1555.

Kabab and Curry's: Indian and Pakistani cuisine. 1498 Isabella St., Santa Clara. 408.247.0745.
