New in Town
Reviewed by Christina Malcolm
The quest for quality entertainment has long eluded the under-21 crowd in Gilroy. Now the search is over. Come June 20, the Gaslighter Music Hall's Gilroy location--just a short jaunt from San Jose--will feature radio DJ dancing to techno, house and new rock, plus occasional live shows for those of high school age and above, on Thursdays and Fridays, 9pm-1am. This terraced nightclub--complete with a formal stage--was built as a theater and is still used for theatrical productions. The thespian environment will remain intact during dance nights, creating an atmosphere of fantasy for those in attendance. The Gaslighter is a family establishment that emphasizes fun and a safe environment for its patrons, both young and old. Snacks such as hot dogs and nachos will be available--as well as nonalcoholic drinks of all kinds, and beer for those 21 and over.
