Not to be hateful, but it occurred to our survey counters that "Best Place to Hike" might be most wisely consulted as a list of places not to go--unless you don't mind having that crowded-city-street feeling on your hikes. Just a suggestion. Anyway, Vasona performed its usual sweep in this section, winning "Best Park," "Best Playground" and "Best Park for Dogs" and taking second in "Best Bike Trail" and "Best Place to Jog."
"Best Adrenaline Rush" gleaned some cute responses: "finding a cute place for under $1,000"; "first day of semiannual sale at Nordstrom's." In other categories, we note that our readers insist on taking a proprietary stance with regard to the 49ers, even though they belong to that OTHER city by the bay. The red-and-gold took Second Place for "Best Sports Team," and Steve Young snapped up the silver for "Best Local Male Athlete." Bet Steve appreciates that.
By the way, there won't be any population explosion if it's left to the residents of this valley. "Sex" beat out "going to the movies" by one slim vote in the "Best Weekend Activity" category.
