JUST BEHIND Bradley Video, nestled between a tanning salon and a self-service dog wash, sits Jalisco. This unassuming Mexican restaurant has become a family institution--and not just for the three generations of the Morado family who own and operate the place. Multiple generations of South Bay families have become loyal diners over the years, faithfully returning week after week for Jalisco's generous and delicious meals. Established in 1956, this family-style Mexican restaurant has seen many locations over the years; sometimes two restaurants were open at once. It started out at 31st and Santa Clara as a drive-in with car-hop service. Then it moved to West San Carlos, spent a decade on Stevens Creek Boulevard, and has been happily serving customers in Campbell since 1992. Many regulars have been dining at one Jalisco or the other since it opened almost 50 years ago. Thankfully, the menu hasn't changed much. Jalisco isn't a fancy place, but it's comfortable. Known for its carne asada, which owner Henry Morado says his father first started in the South Bay in 1967, Jalisco has a reputation for good, affordable food and friendly service. Tasty authentic Mexican food with hearty helpings of sour cream and fresh guacamole are standard at this restaurant and the help-yourself chips-and-salsa bar is addictive.
