OK, so it's located in Princeton near the harbor, not in Half Moon Bay, but this restaurant serves great beers, burgers, salads, fish tacos and other items in an inviting atmosphere that's a favorite of parents with kids in tow. Live music, too. (Closed for remodel until Nov. 26). 390 Capistrano Rd., Princeton. 650.728.2739.
Cetrella Bistro and Cafe This Main Street head-turner attracts locals and visitors with its superb Mediterranean food and lively bar. Excellent wine list and love that big fireplace, too. 845 Main St. 650.726.4090.
