There’s only two dates left for the final season of Detox Sunday’s Pool Party, the popular daytime dance party out by the pool at the Beverly Heritage Hotel in Milpitas.
This Sunday, JASK headlines the event. He brings two decades of experience and an emphasis on soul, jazz and hip hop to his parties, which is perfect for the wild vibe Detox Sundays have already established.
“They’re extremely energetic, loud, crazy, just constant movement. People dance, eat, drink, you name it. They do swim, too,” says Detox Sundays promoter Aimée Escobar.
Detox Sundays were inspired by Rehab in Las Vegas. The idea was to mix a summertime pool party atmosphere with the nightclub vibe. The parties start between noon and 2pm, depending on the main DJ, and go until sunset.
Five years ago, Detox Sundays were an insant hit and stayed that way their entire run. There’s no sign that they are losing any popularity this year. If anything, they’ve seen a slight increase, which is due in part to this being their final season, but also because this season is shorter, ending in July, instead of September. Still, Escobar is ready to go out on top.
“For anything to do with nightlife, five years is usually the run and then you reinvent yourself into something different. We’re creating new possibilities for ourselves by pushing forward,” she says, admitting she’s prepping a new idea, but isn’t ready to announce it just yet.
Detox Sunday w/ JASK will be held at the Beverly Heritage Hotel in Milpitas on Sunday, June 24, 2pm; $15 before 3pm.
