.Punk Rock Picnic Brings the Offspring, Bad Religion to Shoreline

Yogi Bear would probably have to be sporting spikes and a Mohawk if he wanted to blend in with the crowd and try to steal somebody’s “pic-a-nic basket” at Shoreline Amphitheatre on August 31st, because local radio station Live 105 is hosting a “Punk Rock Picnic” to celebrate the end of summer.
Featuring The Offspring, Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Vandals, The Story So Far and Stiff Little Fingers, the show is part of the “Summer Nationals” tour, sponsored by Epitaph Records, marking 20 years since the label put on a sold out, three-day run of shows at the Hollywood Palladium at a time when California punk rock was enjoying a huge surge of exposure and expanding fan bases.
The tour, which features several bands that were there in 1994, will hit 24 cities across the United States, and makes its local stop in Mountain View at Shoreline.
Headliners The Offspring are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their breakthrough album “Smash,” and will be playing the record live in its entirety. Bad Religion will likely not be performing any tracks off its latest record, last year’s unexpected but excellent “Christmas Songs.”
Stiff Little Fingers continue to be led by founding member Jake Burns, who has been at the helm of the Belfast rockers since they formed back in 1977, and Pennywise have a new album coming out in July, featuring the return of original singer Jim Lindberg back into the fold.
Will one of the bands please play a cover of “The Teddy Bear’s Picnic” so we can start up a stuffed animal pit?

Tickets for “Live 105’s Punk Rock Picnic” go on sale this Friday, June 13th at 10 a.m. Tickets are $26 for general admission tickets plus applicable charges.
