Juno Award-nominated stand-up comedian DJ Demers creates jokes out of his hearing loss. The performer rose to prominence in his home country of Canada before appearing on America’s Got Talent in 2016. Now based in LA, he has garnered laughs at shows around the world, including Conan and The Tonight Show—often with an interpreter sharing the stage to promote full accessibility. He launches his 2022 special Born in ’86 by explaining how pandemic masking answered the big question of how much he can “actually” hear: “I was finally able to run the numbers…and it turns out I’m lip-reading 100% of the time.”
