There’s romance, and then there’s Romance. A performance by the 70-plus members of the all-volunteer Nova Vista Symphony focuses on music from the European artistic and intellectual era known as the Romantic Period. The program features works by Alexander Borodin (“Overture to Prince Igor”), Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 and Robert Schumann’s 1850 Cello Concerto. The performance of Schumann’s work features cellist Fiona Huang, 13, winner of their 2024 Young Artists Competition. Nova Vista notes that the selections “showcase the emotional depth and technical brilliance” of the Romantic Period. The program includes a pre-concert talk.
