The funniest thing about Sammy Obeid might be that he turned down a lucrative gig at Google to become a comedian. Hailing from Oakland, the Lebanese-Palestinian American worked hard through undergrad at UC Berkeley and came out with a 3.9 GPA, ready to put that double major in math and business to good use. His version of good use was performing stand-up 1,001 nights in a row to fast-track his career—a feat that took both mathematical and business savvy! He is known to be analytical, with many incisive jokes about his Middle Eastern heritage. In 2013, he told The New York Times, “I am a very mechanical, robotic person.”
