Short film festivals are such a treat because attendees have so much incentive to take risks on films they otherwise wouldn’t. When there aren’t two and a half hours of valuable life on the line, it turns out people love experiencing saucy and exciting new cinema. For its 14th year in town, the San Jose Short Film Festival has lined up over 100 films spanning a huge range of genre and aesthetic configurations. One can show up, hard switch between a comedy, a slasher and a documentary in an hour, grab lunch and dive right back in. With varying prices and showtimes all weekend, anyone can get down on these silver screen shenanigans.
