.Scary Goldings at The Guild Theatre

Scary Goldings fall under the broad genres of R&B and soul, but their self-penned description as “instrumental organ funk” captures their flare much better. The LA-based musicians serve up virtuosic tunes laced with nostalgic feel and colorful humor that generally get everyone soul-clapping along on the dance floor. At the end of 2021, they released their much-anticipated fourth album, titled (appropriately) Scary Goldings IV. It features iconic funk players MonoNeon on bass and John Scofield on guitar. Their crowd favorite “Tacobell’s Canon” (a play on Pachelbel’s “Cannon in D”) could be filed as a classic for the modern age.
