It’s a classic pairing at Shoreline: a live orchestra as a prelude to fireworks. San Francisco Symphony arrives with ninety musicians led by conductor Edwin Outwater, known for conducting the orchestra’s 2019 collaboration with Metallica. The state’s premier orchestra will play familiar tunes from past and present, giving “The Star-Spangled Banner” an epic overture, and themes from beloved animated films Frozen, Coco and Encanto the grandiosity to thrill young and old. Just before the night explodes in shimmering colors, Broadway performer Capathia Jenkins will lead the orchestra in a tribute to the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin.
