Those who’ve seen Shakina Nayfack perform proclaim her to be the future of musical theater. The spectacularly original artist and trans activist rose to fame playing the character Lola on the Hulu program Difficult People, on which she was also a writing consultant. Her talents do not end with singing and acting—she is highly educated, with a PhD in Critical Dance Studies from UC Riverside, and she is a trailblazing storyteller, with her new musical 5 & Dime winning high praise for its innovative spin on the classic play/film Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.

Addie Mahmassani is a poet based in Santa Cruz. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently an MFA student in creative writing at San Jose State University. There, she is a Teaching Associate as well as the lead poetry editor of Reed Magazine, California's oldest literary journal. She also surfs, sings and loves a part-sheepdog named Lou.
