This Sunday marks the relaunch of the SoFA District’s monthly free art event SoFA Sundays. From noon to four, visitors can visit the nearby galleries, enjoy some live music and even catch a matinee.
To start, attendees can see what’s new at the SJ Institute of Contemporary Art and Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino America, as the two galleries are now open on Sundays. After that, they can take advantage of the event by grabbing a free ticket to the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.
The theater-inclined can head over to San Jose Stage Company and City Lights Theater Company to see matinees of The Toxic Avenger and Lizzie Borden respectively.
The event will also be a great opportunity to take advantage of the spiffy new Urban Rooms redesign of Parque de los Pablodores –that funhouse looking structure down first.
The space will be filled with food trucks, art activities and live music. Taking advantage of the space’s new stage will be San Jose’s own David Brookings of band The Average Lookings and Tractor Beams frontman Rich Aljouni. The two artists will play renditions of their favorite songs by The Beatles and help break that outdoor stage in.
