This week, Earthwise will be hosting a performance by singer-songwriter and troubadour Dan Bern. Earthwise is a program started by Mark Weiss in the mid-90s to showcase the various attractions and history that has informed Palo Alto’s auspicious growth. Dan Bern is a prolific songwriter and musician who has been compared with greats such as Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. His performance at the Mitchell Park Community center will anchor around two songs commissioned by Earthwise specifically for this event; one based on a short story by Wallace Stegner and the other about the need for speed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Bern will be supported by Mads Tolling on violin, Charith on viola and Ben Davis on cello.
