.Starover Blue’s Progression From Folk to Dream Pop

Kendall Sallay and Dirk Milotz of Starover Blue launched their musical project under the moniker Cartoon Bar Fight in 2007 after meeting at SJSU, where Sallay was studying operatic vocal performance and Dirk was studying music composition. The following decade brought a name change inspired by writer Vladimir Nabokov, a relocation to Portland and an evolution from their indie-folk beginnings to their current synth-driven dream-pop sound. Fans of an array of bands ranging from the Cocteau Twins to Beach House to Big Thief eagerly await their soon-to-be-released follow-up to 2019’s Ordinary Magic.
