For thousands of years, humans have been watching the Perseids meteor showers. The ancient stellar event happens annually around this time when dust from the Swift-Tuttle Comet lights up the night sky. Montalvo Arts Center is opening up its lawn for a stargazing event to coincide with the peak of year’s shower. Attendees can engage in astronomy lessons from the San Jose Astronomical Association, take part in interstellar dances led by artist Matteo Rubbi and plenty more. The event is sold out, but the shower is free for anyone looking up at the night sky.
