.The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in Palo Alto

Even with the advanced writing tools of the modern age, there’s nothing quite like a good ol’ fashioned spelling bee. That’s the focus of the age-old The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, playing through the end of December at Palo Alto’s TheatreWorks. The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 2005, follows six talented middle schoolers as they go head-to-head on the competitive spelling bee stage. This performance welcomes a few notable Bay Area performers making their TheatreWorks debut, including Mai Abe, Dave J. Abrams and Maia Campbell. With songs like “Magic Foot” and “Woe is Me,” this performance will surely be F-U-N!
