While countless punk bands came and went during the late ’70s and early ’80s, some turned their chaotic tunes into seminal acts of the era. One such band was San Francisco-based the Avengers. Fronted by the enigmatic Penelope Houston, the Avengers recorded one EP and famously opened for the Sex Pistols before they broke up. Luckily for all the old punks out there, the band got back together and has been rocking houses left and right since. The Avengers will perform at the Ritz this Thursday along with openers Kid Congo Powers & The Pink Monkey Birds and Frightwig. (TM)
