Coproduced by the Breath Project, an advocacy group dismantling structural racism in American Theater, the Black Experience Festival is an immersive journey into the multifaceted realities of Black life in the United States. The three-week festival—which runs through Aug. 25—comprises theater productions, talks and interactive workshops. One production, Crawfish, uses poetry, spoken word and percussion to share the story of a New Orleans homeowner who became unhoused in the Bay Area. Another piece, Pass Over, riffs on Waiting for Godot.
